Ukrainian Wedding Cultures

A Ukrainian bride is an occurrence that combines both national and religious beliefs. It is a huge, complex festival with many meaningful rituals and customs.

The ceremony begins with the proper wedding, when the groom goes to the bride’s parents ( for equal- sex or genderqueer couples this is done with both sets of parents ) with a bottle of horilka asking for her hand in marriage.
