This position is located in the United Nations Information Centre in Prague (UNIC Prague), within the Information Centres Service (ICS), Campaigns and Country Operations Division (CCOD), Department of Global Communications. The UNIC Prague is the principal source of information about the United Nations system in the Czech Republic. The Information Centre is responsible for promoting public understanding and support for the aims and activities of the United Nations by disseminating UN information materials to a local audience in English and Czech; engaging local and regional partners; and, overall, bringing the United Nations closer to the people it serves. The incumbent is under the direct supervision of the Head of Office. Internship is for three months with an opportunity for extension, pending on the needs of the department. The internship is UNPAID and full-time (35 hours per week) for the period from 17 April to 31 July 2023 (3.5 months). Interns work under the supervision of a staff member in the department or office to which they are assigned. Two candidates will be accepted.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities will depend on the individual’s background, the intern’s assigned office as well as the internship period. Duties may include, but are not limited to: – Support to monitor and identify relevant content for publication on un.org and other UN system websites and social media accounts. – Format content, draft abstracts and summaries. – Research and create resources guide on specific topics. – Support the efforts towards the migration of www.osn.cz web to a new platform. – Support social media campaigns. – Support to develop communication materials based on good practices, impact example and achievements. – Support in organization of events and meetings.Competencies

Education

To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met: – Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: a. Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or, b. Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent). – Be computer literate in standard software applications; – Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; – Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.Work Experience

No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. Your training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship.Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for this internship. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an asset. Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish are the official languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
