The Consultant will be responsible for carrying out the following activities: Conceptualise, oversee and contribute to knowledge production under the STRIVE Juvenile project, including by supporting the STRIVE research component and by providing substantive input in and revision of relevant manuals, training tools, papers and guidance notes produced under the project. Develop activities to assist national counterparts in Indonesia, Iraq and Nigeria, as needed, and to disseminate the results of the STRIVE Juvenile project at global level. Ensure consistency between STRIVE Juvenile and the Global Programme to End Violence against Children and promote sustainability of efforts, including by fostering knowledge dissemination among staff and conducting fundraising activities. Deliverables: Draft the conclusive analysis of the STRIVE Juvenile research report, in cooperation with the research coordinator and the STRIVE Juvenile research team, based on the findings of the national case-studies. – Conceptualise and develop strategic documents, including for fundraising activities, to ensure consistency and sustainability of efforts under the STRIVE Juvenile project and the Global programme to End VAC. – Contribute to the final revision of the STRIVE Juvenile research report, including by drafting policy recommendations. – Design, prepare background material for and contribute to the delivery of the STRIVE Juvenile team retreat, focusing on knowledge dissemination among staff. – Conceptualise, provide substantive support for, participate in and ensure follow up of an event for the dissemination of the STRIVE Juvenile results at global level. – Facilitate coherent planning and implementation of activities across the three STRIVE Juvenile countries, revise the relevant workplans and develop plans for follow-up to ToT activities. – Provide substantive input and ensure the revision of substance-related material, including publications, manuals, guidance notes, reports produced under the project.Work Location: Home-Based with travel.

Responsibilities
The Knowledge Management consultant will provide his/her knowledge and expertise in the area of violence against children and justice for children, including in relation to the situation of children associated with terrorist and violent extremist groups. The Knowledge Management consultant will: assume duties related to the conceptualization and delivery of activities foreseen under the four outputs with the aim of facilitating knowledge transfer between – and overall coherence of – STRIVE Juvenile and the UNODC Global Programme to END VAC; guide and support the planning and implementation of activities included in national workplans to ensure inclusion of mechanisms of knowledge transfer and multiplication with a view to strengthening the long-term impact of activities carried out under the project; ensure alignment and complementarity of learning and research components with the outputs and activities included in national workplans; identify knowledge needs and gaps within the STRIVE juvenile team and elaborate knowledge sharing strategies and control mechanisms with the aim of building a shared mindset and facilitating the delivery of technical assistance in line with the requirements of the M&E component; and ensure that knowledge built throughout the life of the project is consolidated and formalized, while expanding the evidence base for policy and operational decisions. The Consultant will be home based, with possible missions to the three partner countries and will report directly to the STRIVE Juvenile Project Manager and work under the overall guidance of the of the Coordinator of the Global Programme to End Violence against Children (GLOZ43) and the Chief of Section.Qualifications/special skills
An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in law, political science or international relations, with focus on human rights and international law or related discipline is required. A first level university degree in similar fields in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. A PhD on child rights, international relations, security studies or related areas of work is desirable. At least 7 years of professional experience in the area of violence against children and justice for children is required. Knowledge of legal, judicial and social aspects relating to violence against children and justice for children, with particular focus on the treatment of children associated with terrorist and violent extremist groups are required. At least 4 years of work experience in research on and analysis of issues related to child protection, justice for children, and/or counter-terrorism is required. At least 3 years of work experience in the delivery of training activities in the area of violence against children and justice for children and particularly on the treatment of children associated with terrorist and violent extremist groups is required. At least 3 years of work experience in developing training manuals and materials regarding children associated with terrorist and violent extremist groups is desirable. Work experience in the area of Justice for Children with an international organization is desirable.Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language (Arabic, Chinese, Russian or Spanish) is an advantage. Knowledge of French is desirable.No Fee
