The Incumbent reports to the Chief Field Infrastructure and Camp Improvement Programme

Responsibilities

(A) In coordination with CIPM, implements the community development Programme as an integral part of the Camp Improvement Plan and focuses on supporting the refugees community as key agents for camp improvement including capacity building, employment and income generation initiatives and other self-help programmes; communicates and coordinates programme activities with different UNRWAs Departments; (B) Monitors and evaluates project implementation to ensure sustainability and impact of social development projects as part of the camp improvement programme; conducts appropriate evaluation studies; (C) Conducts socio-economic baseline surveys and conducts shelter assessment in camps in collaboration with Relief and Social Services (RSS) teams to ensure the formulation of integrated community development proposals; (D) Coordinates meetings with the camp improvement committee and the project working groups to review and discuss the field survey findings and related activities; assists in mobilizing the community to support the camp improvement initiatives; (E) Maintains close coordination with Community Based Organizations to support incorporation of their camp initiatives within the UNRWA-led camp improvement programme; (F) Provides input to and/or participates in various ICIP committees and working groups; prepares periodic and ad hoc reports on community development activities in camps; (G) Manages the overall communication process of the project; (H) Performs such other duties as may be required.Competencies

A university degree in social studies, community development or related field with special emphasis on the application of social work and community participation methodologies to developmental programmes.Work Experience

At least three years’ experience in the related field, of which at least two years’ experience in urban planning, and/or local socio-economic development in large international, governmental or non-governmental organization concerned with the welfare and promotion of developmental social services. (Or, 2 years in case you hold master’s degree), is required.
